Synopsis & Film Details
Filmworks presents the American independent drama James White, winner of an Audience Award at both the 2015 Sundance and AFI film festivals. The film tells the story of 20-something James White, a native New Yorker who is on the verge of a breakdown as he attempts to care for his dying mother and to see past his coddled upper-middle-class life. As his mother deteriorates and the pressure on James builds, his volatile behavior puts him at risk of losing those who need him the most. This raw, fragile, and intimate family story, the directorial debut from filmmaker Josh Mond, stars an ensemble cast that includes Christopher Abbott in a breakout performance as James, with Cynthia Nixon, Scott Mescudi, and Ron Livingston.
