A Faithful Man

Synopsis & Film Details

Filmworks presents the second film of its 2019-2020 season, the French romantic comedy “A Faithful Man,” at the historic Tower Theatre. French filmmaker Louis Garrel’s second full-length feature, the film was an official selection at the Toronto International Film Festival. The film follows Abel and the interesting situations that change his life. Marianne leaves Abel for Paul, his best friend and the father of her unborn child. Eight years later, Paul dies and Abel and Marianne get back together — much to the dismay of Eva, who has secretly loved Abel since childhood, and Marianne’s son Joseph, who is convinced that Marianne poisoned Paul. A light-hearted and engaging comedy, Garrel infuses the spirit of vintage French New Wave cinema into his latest as director. Garrel stars in the film, along with Laetitia Casta and Lily-Rose Depp. In French, with English subtitles
