Hello, Filmworks fans. We’ve been thinking about you.
We remain heartbroken that we had to cancel the last two screenings of our 2019-20 season. While so much keeps changing in our lives, we’ve been keeping close watch on the changing landscape of film, too.
If you follow us on Twitter or Facebook, you’ve no doubt seen our shared posts about “virtual cinema” options. Art-house theatres across North America are improvising to organize these online screenings, in partnership with some of our favorite indie distributors. If you haven’t yet tried one, check out these options:
• The State Theatre (Modesto)
• The Roxie (San Francisco)
• Smith Rafael Film Center (San Rafael)
We recommend you give virtual cinema a chance! For now, you can stay up to date on the latest indie movies from the safety of home.
YouTube’s FREE online film fest runs May 29-June 7
Speaking of virtual cinema, YouTube and Tribeca Enterprises will present We Are One: A Global Film Festival, an historic event featuring more than 100 short- and feature-length films curated by more than 20 world-class festivals.
The We Are One festival is free and will run exclusively on YouTube from May 29 through June 7 at YouTube.com/WeAreOne. On each film page, there will be an optional donation button allowing viewers to contribute to organizations helping on the front lines of the Covid-19 fight, including the WHO, UNICEF, Doctors Without Borders, and more.
