The Birds

Synopsis & Film Details

The 1963 horror film is directed with masterful suspense by Alfred Hitchcock. The movie tells the story of the malicious, unexplained attacks by marauding birds of all shapes and sizes on the residents of Bodega Bay. Critics have called the movie a landmark technical achievement and Hitchcock’s “purest expression of an arbitrary universe.” The famed director employed thousands of real, trained birds and his own filmmaking ingenuity to create this psychologically complicated and eerily quiet study of violence. Starring Tippi Hedren, Rod Taylor, Jessica Tandy, and Suzanne Pleshette, with sound design by noted composer Bernard Hermann.
