Our friends at the Tower Theatre for the Performing Arts will present a special Halloween screening of the classic 1922 silent horror film “Nosferatu” on Saturday, Oct. 25. Doors open at 7 and show time is 8 p.m. The screening will feature an original electronic score, performed live by Grammy-nominated Southern California composer Tom Peters.
An unauthorized adaptation of “Bram Stoker’s Dracula,” directed by famed German expressionist filmmaker F.W. Murnau, “Nosferatu” remains one of the most unsettling vampire films ever made, and its bald, spidery vampire — personified by the diabolical Max Schreck — continues to spawn imitations. The version presented at The Tower Theatre will be a digital edition mastered from the acclaimed 2007 restoration.
Using a combination of computer electronics and live performance to complement Murnau’s gothic vision, Peters will accompany the film with a live score.
You can buy tickets online from The Tower Theatre’s website, or stop by the box office at 815 E. Olive Ave.
