Friday's "Ernest and Celestine" Inspires New Friendships

The protagonists in our Friday movie, the animated family film “Ernest & Celestine,” form an unlikely but enduring friendship. Inspired by their bond, we proudly recognize this month’s screening sponsors, both new friends of Filmworks: the Fresno Chaffee Zoo and the Arne Nixon Center for the Study of Children’s Literature at Fresno State.
The Fresno Chaffee Zoo serves as the Central Valley’s destination for incredible adventure. From a trip to the new Sea Lion Cove to a journey through the Rain Forest filled with tropical wonders, the Zoo provides an engaging learning environment for children and instills a passion for conservation.
Located inside Fresno State’s Henry Madden Library, the Arne Nixon Center serves children through its wider assistance to the adults who work with them. From teachers and authors to scholars and collectors, the Center is one of the leading resources for children’s and young-adult literature in North America.
After Friday’s early show, join children’s librarian Jennifer Crow to talk about the film and share stories about your favorite children’s books. Now the curator at the Arne Nixon Center, Crow has worked at the Center for more than 13 years.
Finally, as part of our new community outreach program, Filmworks will also host guests from Big Brothers Big Sisters Central California at Friday’s screening. “Bigs” and their “Littles” will be in attendance, as we welcome the organization to a screening that both kids and adults will surely enjoy.
Tickets are still available. Purchase them on our website for one of tomorrow’s showings, at either 5:30 or 8:30 p.m. Come meet some new friends for the evening!
