John Moses, President, teaches Film Studies and English at Fresno City College. He has presented papers and published articles on world cinema, film noir, and film adaptation.
Robert Navarro, Vice-President, is a lawyer specializing in the civil rights of the incarcerated and the incremental reforming of the California prison system. He is a sometime poet and artist.
Susana Sosa, Secretary, holds an M.A. from Stanford in Art History and is currently working on her Ph.D. in the same discipline. Her dissertation focuses on images (prints, posters, graphic art) and films of early French cinema (1895-1911). She is currently a full-time instructor in the art department at Fresno City College.
Catherine Campbell, Treasurer, is a civil rights attorney. Catherine Campbell likes community relations work and has built bridges with other organizations to give FFW the ballast and support it needs. She writes our grant proposals.
John Alden is a professional photographer and the owner of JA Photography. He is a member of Professional Photographers of America and the National Association of Photoshop Professionals.
Claudia Arguelles is the Director of Sales and Marketing for the Fresno Convention & Entertainment Center. She oversees the booking and marketing of events and entertainment at the five facilities, which include the Selland Arena and the William Saroyan Theatre. She has a degree in Fine Arts from San Diego State University and has had a lifelong interest and involvement in the visual and performing arts.
Jefferson Beavers is a freelance writer based in Fresno and he teaches courses in the Mass Communication and Journalism department at Fresno State, where he's the faculty adviser to the student newspaper, The Collegian. He was a newspaper journalist for 12 years, most recently as a copy editor at The Fresno Bee.
Denise Blum is an assistant professor in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction at California State University at Fresno. In addition to her work in the teacher credential program, she also is the advisor for Cineculture Club, which presents weekly cultural films at Fresno State. She received her Ph.D. in Curriculum Studies from the University of Texas at Austin. Her forthcoming book "Cuban Youth and Revolutionary Values: Alla en la lucha" (University of Texas Press) is based on several years of fieldwork in Cuba during the 1990s.
Gloria Burrola is a nationally certified school psychologist and film lover. Originally from Texas, she graduated from the University of Washington in Seattle, where she discovered her love of alternative cinema. She has lived in Fresno since 1980. She currently serves on the Yoga Center of Fresno Board of Directors.
Don Fischer is Principal Analyst with the Fresno County Public Authority. He hosts the "National Big Fresno Barn Dance" and "Through The Listening Glass" on KFSR-FM. He has served on the CSUF Broadcast Policy Board, William Saroyan Society Board and the Fresno Free College Foundation Board.
Sasha Khokha covers the Central Valley for The California Report, a statewide public radio program airing on two dozen public radio stations. Her work is also carried on National Public Radio and Public Radio International. Sasha is also a documentary filmmaker; her latest film, Calcutta Calling, follows the lives of girls adopted from India to rural Swedish-Lutheran Minnesota and was featured on PBS' Frontline/World. Sasha is a graduate of Brown University and the UC Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism.
Jim Piper has taught English, film study, and filmmaking at Fresno City College since 1965. He has won numerous awards for his short dramatic films, and has published five books, three having to do with film.
Stanley Poss has taught English in various forms including film at California State University, Fresno, from l956 to l995. He's published numerous essays on literature, politics, and culture in The Nation, The London Review, The Yale Review, and many others. He served as a Fulbright Professor of American literature in Cairo and as an exchange professor in Florida and Humboldt State.
Joy Quigley works in film and video production. After stints in Hollywood, New York City, and at Cornell University’s ETV production department, she relocated to Fresno in 2007 and reentered the freelance production world.
Dixie Salazar is a poet and fiction writer with a novel, two books of poetry and one forthcoming in 2003. She has an MFA from Columbia University, N.Y. and is also a visual artist involved in Fresno activist work and cultural organizations. Currently, she teaches writing and literature at California State University, Fresno.
